Einleitung
Introduction
Diese Familie umfasst fünf Unterfamilien mit 12 Gattungen und über 125 Arten.
Die farbenprächtigen Zwergbarsche werden selten von Tauchern gesichtet.
Alle sind territorial und extrem scheu.
Als Fleischfresser ernähren sie sich von Würmern, kleinen Krebsen und Zooplankton.
Je nach Art erreichen sie eine Länge von 5 bis 18 cm.

Das Männchen hat einen blauen Körper mit gelbem Rücken, das Weibchen ist gelb.
In geschützten Buchten und Lagunen lebend, dabei regelmäßig auf Sand und Geröll am Fuß von Korallenhängen, das Weibchen lebt sehr versteckt und wird nur selten beobachtet.
Sehr scheu.

Schwarzer Körper mit zwei kobaltblauen Kopfstreifen.
Man findet ihn in geschützten Buchten und Lagunen.
Versteckt sich in kleinen Astkorallen, ist stark an seinen Stammplatz gebunden, den er nicht verlässt und wo er nur manchmal rauslugt.
