Einleitung
Introduction
Es gibt 3 Gattungen und fast 40 Arten.
Sie sind nächtliche Jäger und machen auf verschiedene Kleintiere im Riff und in anliegenden Sandebenen Jagd.
Sie sind oft auffällig gefärbt mit weißer und gelber Grund- und Flossenfarbe und gelben mit schwarzen Längsstreifen und Punkten.
Die Jungfische sind bei vielen Arten völlig anders gefärbt.
Je nach Art werden sie zwischen 35 cm und über 1 m lang.

There are 3 genera and almost 40 species.
They are nocturnal hunters and prey on various small animals in the reef and neighbouring sand flats.
They are often strikingly coloured with a white and yellow base and fins and yellow with black longitudinal stripes and dots.
The juveniles of many species are completely different in colour.
Depending on the species, they can grow to between 35 cm and over 1 metre in length.

Subaldulte sind cremegelb, ihre Streifen beginnen sich in Flecken aufzulösen.
Adulte sind silber-hellgrau und sind meist in Lagunen und Außenriffen meist über Fleckriffen mit Sandarealen anzutreffen.
