Diese Muränenart ist ein protandrischer Hermaphrodit.

Das bedeutet, die Individuen erreichen die Geschlechtsreife als Männchen und wechseln später ihr Geschlecht, um Weibchen zu werden.

Während dieses Wechsels verändern sie ihre Färbung. Männchen schwarz, Weibchen blau mit leuchtendgelben Flossen, alte Weibchen werden dann ganz gelb.

This moray eel species is a protandric hermaphrodite.

This means that the individuals reach sexual maturity as males and later change sex to become females.
