Einleitung
Introduction
Es gibt über 80 Arten, davon allein etwa 30 Arten in Indonesien.
Der barbenartige Bart, der Ihnen den Namen verleiht, ist so etwas wie eine äußere Zunge.
Die zwei Bartfäden sind mit Sinneszellen bepackt.
Damit " schnüffeln " sie durch den Sand auf der Suche nach Essbarem.
Sie werden je nach Art zwischen 7 und 60 cm lang.

Geht nachts auf Nahrungssuche.

Weisser Körper, wobei die obere Körperhälfte olivfarbene bis rote Schattierungen aufweisen.
Die Barteln werden benutzt um im Sand nach Nahrung zu suchen.

Frißt alleine, oder schließt sich zu kleinen Gruppen zusammen.
Schwimmt wenn sie nicht fressen, in großen Schwärmen über die Riffe.
Nicht scheu, schwimmen nur bei Belästigung davon.

Er ist der größte der Barben.
Am Tag sucht er einzeln oder in kleinen Gruppen nach bodenlebenden Wirbellosen, nachts ruht er einzeln am Boden.

Auch diese Art schwimmt nur bei Belästigung weg.
