Einleitung
Introduction
Es gibt 2 Gattungen und vier Arten.
Fledermausfische sind Allesfresser.
Sie fressen sowohl Algen als auch kleine wirbellose Tiere, ebenso gerne picken sie an Quallen rum.
Charakteristisch sind die dunkel gefärbten senkrechten Bänder über den Augen und den Seitenflossen.
Gerne an Riffüberhängen oder Schiffswracks zu finden.
Je nach Art erreichen sie eine Größe zwischen 30 und 45 cm.

There are 2 genera and four species.
Batfish are omnivores.
They eat both algae and small invertebrates, and they also like to peck at jellyfish.
The dark-coloured vertical bands above the eyes and lateral fins are characteristic.
They are often found on reef overhangs or shipwrecks.
Depending on the species, they can reach a size of between 30 and 45 cm.

Juveniles near the coast, in mangroves or in brackish water, imitating floating leaves lying on their side.

Juveline sind oft unter Anlegern, aber auch im tiefen Wasser in Höhlen zu finden.
Adulte sind meist einzeln, oder paarweise an seichten Küsten - bis zu tiefen Aussenriffen oder in Wracks anzutreffen.
