Blaßgrau über rötlichbraun, oliv - bronze - oder rotgetönt bis zu dunkelgrau, Körper kann verblassen oder dunkler werden, die Schwanzflosse kann einen dunklen Rand haben, die Afterflosse ist abgerundet.

Schwimmt in kleinen Schwärmen, dabei flache küstennahe Regionen bewohnend, gerne unter Docks.

Nicht scheu, man kommt sehr nah an sie ran.
