Olivgrüner Körper mt einem etwas helleren Hinterkörper.
Das Männchen hat einen Stirnhöcker.
Frißt hartschalige Wirbellose, die er mit seinen Zähnen knackt.
Man sieht sie an Riffrändern patrouillieren.
Jungfische haben einen weißen Körper mit 2 orangenen Flecken am Rücken, 2 schwarzen Flecken auf der Rückenflosse, kleine schwarze Flecken am Kopf und an der Rücken- und Afterflosse und 2 schwarze Streifen an der Schwanzflosse.

The male has a frontal hump.
Eats hard-shelled invertebrates, which it cracks with its teeth.
They can be seen patrolling the edges of reefs.
Juveniles have a white body with 2 orange spots on the back, 2 black spots on the dorsal fin, small black spots on the head and on the dorsal and anal fins and 2 black stripes on the caudal fin.

Das Ende seiner Schwanzflosse ziert ein dunkler dreieckiger Fleck.
Jungtiere sind meist weiß und haben einen kleinen dunklen Fleck an der Basis der Brustflosse.

Brauner Streifen unterhalb der Rückenflosse.
Jugendform: Rücken gelbbraun, Bauch weiß, blaßbrauner Streifen unterhalb der Rückenflosse, schwarzer Streifen vom Auge bis zur Rückenflosse.
Schwimmt im Bereich von Riffen.

Körper: Männchen mit einem ( gelegentlich zwei dunklen Flecken ) auf der Körpermitte. Weibchen haben keine charakteristische Zeichnung ( kann Querbänder aufweisen.)
Ihre Färbung variiert stark, jedoch fast immer mit grünlichem Schimmer. Rote Iris mit grüner Pupille.
Bei Bedrohung verschwinden sie im Sand.

Body: Males with one ( occasionally two dark spots ) on the centre of the body. Females have no characteristic markings (may have transverse bands).
Their colouring varies greatly, but almost always with a greenish tinge. Red iris with green pupil.
