Einleitung
Introduction
Es gibt 7 Gattungen mit über 80 Arten.
Diese Art wird leicht verwechselt mit den Eidechsenfischen.
Sandbarsche haben eine lange Rückenflosse, wogegen die Eidechsenfische eine eher kurze haben.
Beide sind jedoch Meeresgrundbewohner.
Im Allgemeinen werden Sandbarsche zwischen 8 und 30 cm lang, obwohl es zwei Arten gibt, die 1 - 1,2 m lang werden.

There are 7 genera with over 80 species.
This species is easily confused with the lizardfish.
Sand bass have a long dorsal fin, whereas lizardfish have a rather short one.
However, both are bottom dwellers.
In general, sand bass grow to between 8 and 30 cm in length, although there are two species that grow to 1 - 1.2 m in length.

Unter dem Auge befindet sich ein dunkler, vertikaler bis leicht diagonaler Streifen.
Man findet ihn auf Felsböden, Geröll und Sand.

Auf den Wangen haben diese Tiere weiße und orangenfarbene Schrägstreifen und einen hellen Streifen der von der Brust- bis zur Schwanzflossenbasis reicht.
Bewohnt riffnahe Geröll- und Sandflächen in Lagunen und geschützten Außenriffen.
