Einleitung
Introduction
Es gibt ca. 215 Arten.
Sie sind die Juwelen in den Riffen. Männliche wie weibliche Fische sind sehr schön gefärbt, wobei der männliche jedoch übertrumpft.
Diese brüsten sich mit prächtigen Rückenflossen.
Die meisten Arten erreichen eine Länge zwischen 6 und 20 cm.

They are the jewels in the reefs. Both male and female fish are beautifully colored, although the male is more dominant.
These boast magnificent dorsal fins.
Most species reach a length of between 6 and 20 cm.

Höhlen und steinige Gebiete sind die bevorzugten Lebensräume dieser Fahnenbarsche.
Diese Tiere sollen in einer Tiefe von bis zu 300 m in kleinen Schwärmen leben, was sie für die Fischerei uninteressant macht. Der Name Fahnenbarsch stammt von den langen, fahnenartigen Bauchflossen.
Sie ernähren sich von Zooplankton und Fischlarven.
Die Tiere leben zunächst eine Weile als Weibchen, um später eine Umwandlung zum männlichen Geschlecht zu vollziehen.

Caves and rocky areas are the preferred habitats of these anthias.
These animals are said to live in small schools at a depth of up to 300 m, which makes them uninteresting for fishing. The name anthias comes from the long, flag-like pelvic fins.
They feed on zooplankton and fish larvae.
The animals initially live as females for a while before later converting into males.

Die Männchen sind orange mit gelben Punkten auf Körperschuppen mit einem purpurnen Fleck auf der Brustflosse.
Die Weibchen sind orange mit violettrandigem rotorangefarbenem Wangenstreifen.
Man findet sie in klaren Lagunen und Aussenriffhängen, besonders vor Riffkronen und an Korallenköpfen, dabei kleine oder große bis riesige Ansammlungen bildend.
Ein Männchen bewacht meist einen Harem aus 5 - 10 Weibchen.

Males are orange with yellow spots on body scales with a purple spot on the pectoral fin.
The females are orange with a purple-edged red-orange cheek stripe.
They are found in clear lagoons and outer reef slopes, especially in front of reef tops and on coral heads, forming small or large to huge accumulations.
A male usually guards a harem of 5 - 10 females.

Yellowstriped fairy basslet
Maximale Länge: 12 cm
Tiefe: 2 - 40 m
Das Männchen hat einen purpurnen Fleck hinten in der Rückenflosse ( siehe Bild 2 )
Das Weibchen hat einen orangegelben Rückenstreifen der bis zum oberen Ende der Schwanzflosse reicht, der untere Schwanzlappenrand ist ebenso gefärbt.
In Ansammlungen an Außenriffhängen bis etwa 3 m über dem Riff Plankton schnappend.

The male has a purple spot on the back of his dorsal fin (see picture 2)
The female has an orange-yellow dorsal stripe that extends to the upper end of the caudal fin, and the lower edge of the caudal lobe is also colored.
Grabbing plankton in accumulations on outer reef slopes up to about 3 m above the reef.
