Einleitung
Introduction
Es gibt etwa 35 Arten in 10 Gattungen.
Büschelbarsche werden auch Korallenwächter genannt.
Der Name Korallenwächter rührt daher, weil die Tiere sehr oft auf Korallen liegend gesehen werden.
Der Name Büschelbarsch erklärt sich daher, dass einige Arten an den Stacheln der Rückenflosse büschelartige Fortsätze haben.
Die meisten werden nicht größer als 10 cm, einige Arten können über 20 cm lang werden.

Ansonsten weißer Körper mit braunen Bändern und weißen Flossen.
Sehr scheu, flitzt immer wieder bei Annäherung zu einem anderen Sitzplatz.
Einziger Büschelbarsch Vertreter im Atlantik.

Hockt auf ganz unterschiedlichem Bewuchs von Hartböden, an der Basis von kleinen Korallen- oder Gesteinsformationen, auch auf kleinen Sandflecken vor solchen.
