Introduction

Their colouring can adapt to their habitat,

from purple to dark red and from purple to yellow,

all colours are possible.

They remain almost motionless on the ground

until prey swims past and then strike

at lightning speed within 15 milliseconds.

The lightning-fast opening of the jaws creates a vacuum,

with which the prey is sucked in.

Being stung by one of its fin rays causes severe pain,

which can often last for several days.
