Introduction


There are 12 species.

They can be recognised by their depressed forehead,

the lower jaw is longer than the upper jaw.

Depending on the species, they can be between 36 cm and 1.40 metres long.


Centropomus undecimalis

Common snook, Sergeant fish or Robalo

Maximum length: 1.35 m

Depth: 1 - 12 m

Silvery-olive coloured, they have a conspicuous black lateral line

and the front part of their head is flattened.

Favours the vicinity of mangroves, preferring flattened areas,

although they occasionally swim over shallow patch reefs and seagrass beds.

Shy, but tends to simply ignore divers.
