Introduction


There are 2 genera with 12 species.

This species is similar to the dwarf perch.

In most cases they are very colorful

and sometimes have an eyespot on the dorsal fin.

They have large eyes that are set far in front.

They live individually or in small groups very hidden in coral

and rocky reefs down to a depth of 350 m.

Depending on the species, they reach a size of 2.2 to 10 cm.

Depth: 3 - 70 m

Very difficult to photograph as it travels very quickly.

Bicolor, fore body purple and hind body yellow to golden.

There are a few stripes running across the head.

Dashes around in or near holes and crevices.

Very shy, quickly retreats into dark holes or crevices when approached.
