This family includes small shell snails with a worldwide distribution.

They live mainly in shallow water areas, but can also be found at greater depths.

They feed on sea squirts where they also lay their spawn.

Spherical shell, ends slightly drawn out, tip concealed.

The entire surface is heavily ribbed, with about 27 ribs on the outer lip.

Deep groove on the back, interspersed with weakened or obsolete ribs.

White color.

Common in the tropics in intertidal coral reefs, under rocks and dead coral.

Trivirostra oryza is said to be nocturnal and carnivorous.

During the day, the small shell snail hides under stones.
