Dieser Feilenfisch ist ein weniger häufig vorkommender Feilenfisch, der gewöhnlich in geschützten seewärts gerichteten Riffen mit reichen Korallenbeständen aber auch in Häfen zu sehen ist.

Sichtbar, vergrößerter Bauchanhang, orangefarbene Stacheln an der Schwanzwurzel, weißliche Schnauze.

Es gibt zwei Farbformen, die eine mit großen weißen Flecken die andere ohne Flecken.

Schwimmen paarweise über's Riff, und meistens beide Varianten.

Neugierig, mit langsamen Bewegungen kommt man in ihre Nähe.

Visible, enlarged belly appendage, orange spines on the tail root, whitish snout.

There are two color forms, one with large white spots, the other without spots.

Swim in pairs over the reef, and usually both varieties.

Curious, with slow movements you can get close to them.

Die häufigste Farbform hat breite dunkelbraune und schmale mattgelbe Längsstreifen.

Farbe kann verblassen oder ganzheitlich braun werden.

Normalerweise hält er sich in Bodennähe auf, versteckt in Gorgonien und Geweihkorallen.

Scheu, versteckt sich bei Annäherung in Löchern und Spalten.

White spot on the caudal fin and body covered with orange spots.

The most common color form has broad dark brown and narrow dull yellow longitudinal stripes.

Color can fade or become completely brown.

It is usually found near the bottom, hidden in gorgonians and staghorn corals.

Shy, hides in holes and crevices when approached.

Man findet ihn regelmäßig an korallenreichen Hängen von Lagunen und an Außenriffen, sowie in Seegras- und Seetangzonen, dabei immer in Verstecknähe.

It is regularly found on coral-rich slopes of lagoons and on outer reefs, as well as in seagrass and kelp zones, always close to hiding places.

Sein Körper hat meistens ein weißes Netzmuster.

Sonst ist sein Körper, seine Schnauze sowie sein Kopf schlank und länglich.

Seine Färbung geht von braun bis grau, oder gelb- bis rötlichbraun, seine Färbung kann drastisch wechseln, verblassen oder dunkler werden, um sich zu tarnen.

Sein Bauchlappen hat meistens einen gelblichen Rand.

In Riffen wohnend, meist senkrecht zwischen den Ästen einer Gorgonie, wo er wegen seiner guten Tarnung schwer zu entdecken ist.

Nicht scheu, man kann dicht ran, da er " seine " Gorgonie nicht verlassen will.

Otherwise its body, snout and head are slender and elongated.

Its coloration ranges from brown to grey, or yellowish to reddish brown, its coloration can change drastically, fading or darkening to camouflage itself.

Its ventral lobe usually has a yellowish edge.

It lives in reefs, usually vertically between the branches of a gorgonian, where it is difficult to spot due to its good camouflage.

Not shy, you can get close as it does not want to leave "its" gorgonian.
