Einleitung
Introduction
Zwei Paar Antennen, die äusseren sind sehr lang und haben Dornen.
Die Schale ist hart und ebenfalls mit Dornen besetzt.
Vorwiegend nachtaktive Tiere die als Allesfresser bekannt sind, auch Aas.

Das erste Beinpaar trägt unterschiedlich starke und verschieden gebaute Scheren, eine mit spitzen Dornen versehene, schmalere Greifschere und eine größere Knackschere.
Geht die Knackschere verloren, so entsteht bei der nächsten Häutung an dieser Stelle eine neue Greifschere, während sich die verbliebene Greifschere in eine Knackschere umwandelt.

If the cracking claw is lost, a new gripping claw is formed at this point during the next moult, while the remaining gripping claw is transformed into a cracking claw.

Scheu, zieht sich bei Annäherung schnell zurück.

Braun bis dunkelpurpurner Körper, mit weißen Punkten.
Man findet sie tagsüber schlecht, da sie sich in Spalten verstecken, nachts jedoch kommen sie raus und gehen auf
Futtersuche im Riff.
Kann schnell rückwärts schwimmen, wenn sie gestört wird.
Scheu, zieht sich bei Annäherung schnell zurück.
